What Digital Assessment Can Achieve

We’ve seen first-hand the difference that digital assessment makes. At Bournemouth University, the midwifery programme adopted OPALBU, a custom e-assessment system which we developed. The impact was significant:

• Final mentor interviews more than doubled in length, with richer, more meaningful feedback
• 100% of interviews included student comments and were time-stamped for accuracy, compared to just 32% on paper
• Mentors were more than twice as likely to identify clear next steps for learning, and those recommendations were both more specific and directive
